Body text Footnotes

Most notes go in the End Notes, End Matter, or the Reference Section.

If the article is very long it may be separated into sections (notional pages). The reason a long document is not separated into actual pages is that web-browsers have a "Find [words] in Page," so it is then possible to record words in the article, and then input them into the "Find in Page" as a sort of bookmark to where you are up to reading, or to store interesting parts.

Footnotes are placed just before the end of each section. They are a sort of local reference. Not all sections, or possibly the whole article require footnotes, so you might not find them in all articles.
